The purpose of UFRJ’s International Relations Office (SGRI, in Portuguese) is to work for the internationalization of the university in favor of its students, professors, and administrative staff.
As UFRJ’s main mediator, SGRI creates a dialogue with academic institutions abroad, such as universities and research institutes, with government bodies, such as embassies and consulates, and also with international agencies.
In addition to creating international partnerships, SGRI also maintains a national network, which includes the Ministry of Education (MEC)/Office of Higher Education (SESu), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and funding agencies such as the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).
